Been a while...

OK, so I am trying to get caught up with Blogging and such, this week hopefully. Your books, the ones I have, are lovely.

Today you wrote, or began, your 1st artist statement which is due on your blog by 9:35 Wednesday morning. I will begin individual conferences during advisements next week. I will have a sign-up for you to do these with me.

Wednesday I will be introducing the contour line/wrapped animal. Attached to the right is a sampling of both literal interpretations for the drawing kids as well as interpretations of contour line for photo and graphic students. Click on it to see it larger. It does need to be an animal. I have more photo examples of what this could be in a book I will share.

This project will be due Nov. 3rd for class critique. Next week I will be assigning a Research Essay on your choice of artist, event, time period etc. of inspiration to you. I will be using a format used by one of the other AP teachers so the format is familiar to you. This will be due by December 3rd so I have plenty of time to grade them for the finals grade.

The Castle Rock Art Fest is September 11th and 12th. This is a great opportunity for community service hours. Look for Mrs. Slutsky from the Castle Rock Chamber of Commerce. She will be in the lunch room signing up volunteers. We will post more as more information is available.

AP Kids should help us with the CV booth, your work will be on display and we will need to create stuff to sell for scholarship money. How can you help? Photos, graphics, work we can scan then turn into card sets to sell, help me create some pewter pendants to sell, or glass fusing. Plus, we need volunteers to man the booth and run demonstrations during the fest times. See me to sign-up.

Get out there and see some Art!

This week

OK, you put up your self portraits and wrote up your thoughts on how you did. Today I will be introducing the year long project of the altered book and Friday you will begin a cubist still life. Next week I will show you examples of the portfolios that have been submitted int he past.

Take a look at this beautiful artist book by Karen Hatzigeorgiou. Read her process, tips etc, but also her reflections, this what I want to see you doing for your books and all your work; blogging about your process, and reflecting on the meaning and what you discovered along the way.

This weekend, create your blog, send me the link and I will add you here. Become a follower to this blog. Start commenting.
